We chose to do six novellas, two stories about two of the men in each book. Navy SEAL, Ranger, Army Special Forces, Marine Force Recon and Delta Force. There will be stories about an Air Force combat controller, U.S. For example, if it’s got to do with ocean, the the SEALs are called from the U.S. We wanted to do a sort of show-and-tell on the different black ops communities because each is different in their own, unique way.

Both of us dealt in the black ops of the secretive military side that civilians don’t get to see.

I had a secret clearance and Merline a top secret clearance. She was an Air Force Colonel and was the first woman to run an Air Force Base (and showed the boys how to do it). I came up with a concept of us doing a novella each (35,000 words in length) on the black ops community. She is a sister military vet and a long-time friend. There will be three books, one coming out each year, 2013, 20, with connected stories (novellas). We have three books, total, in this six-novella series.Ĭourse of Action was an idea created by myself and Merline Lovelace for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. This is book two of three on our two novellas in each book series. Getting to write with my good friend and sister military vet, Merline Lovelace, is always a thrill. (Jan.)įorecast: Despite the bland, misleading cover, booksellers should see an increase in sales if they display this one alongside similar western-flavored novels like Jodi Thomas's As rich in history as it is in character, this romance is an inspirational delight. Army Nurse Corps-to vivid life by focusing on Sam's struggles as one of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, Victoria's maturing from society fluff writer into respected war correspondent and the battle-driven evolution of their relationship from mere passion to impassioned love. Following the couple from their Cheyenne, Wyo., hometown to war-torn Cuba, Lovelace, a retired air force colonel, brings her central theme-the creation of the U.S. Despite Sam's love for a beautiful and dedicated nurse, he and Victoria impulsively get engaged after falling in lust on the eve of the Spanish American War.

Third in a series about army life and love in frontier America, the tale centers on the relationship between spirited, spoiled 17-year-old journalist Victoria Parker and young cavalry officer Sam Garrett.

There's more here than appearances suggest, however. This book's title, and its cover, which depicts a long-gowned woman gazing passively out to sea, don't indicate that Lovelace's latest (after The Colonel's Daughter) is anything but a stereotypical romance between a swashbuckling hero and doormat heroine.
